Nonduality: Useful or Useless?

The question to contemplate in this lesson is: How does nondual inquiry and gaining nondual insight relate to nondual coaching? Are they the same or different? If different, in what way?

In nondual coaching, you constantly have to balance the coaching aspect with the nondual aspect. This means solving a client’s problem through coaching, not just sharing a nondual understanding. Simply sharing nondual concepts isn’t coaching; it’s teaching, at best.

It’s important to recognize that nonduality, by itself, is useless. Really, it is. This isn’t clickbait. You might expect me to retract this statement and justify my profession, but I won’t. I found that nonduality is, on its own, interesting but useless.

However, nonduality doesn’t have to stand alone. When it does, it’s merely a philosophy, much like nihilism. But when you apply nonduality to real-world situations, it becomes incredibly useful and endlessly fascinating.

This includes situations in coaching and leadership. Accordingly, our slogan at NDLCA is “Where nonduality finds its home in coaching.” Once applied in coaching, nonduality proves valuable rather than merely entertaining.

While we apply nonduality to coaching, we don’t directly teach coaching or leadership skills. Instead, we offer a nondual methodology. Yes, a nondual methodology! Integrating nonduality can indeed be taught.

While turning nonduality into a methodology might seem like it introduces new separations and limitations, this doesn’t have to be the case. The methodology is far from ordinary. The toolkit is alive and ever-changing. It has to be.

Nondual coaching is both possible and powerful. It can be taught and practiced. We’ve seen it, and we’ve done it.
